By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
April 12, 2012

On April 12th, 2012 during our weekly bingo fundraiser, the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 block of Compass Road in Sadsbury Township for a woods fire. The caller reported a 100 foot square area of woods on fire to the rear of their residence.

Engine 31-1 with Deputy Chief Supplee and a crew of 4 responded at 1705 hours and arrived on location at 1710 hours. Crews deployed an attack line to the rear of the house to begin work on the fast spreading fire.

Deputy Chief Supplee established Compass Road Command at 1711 hours and requested 3 additional brush trucks to respond to the scene. This dispatch summoned Brush 29, Tac 44 and Brush 35-1.

Crews began work on the fire, due to a need for more manpower and more water, Compass Road Command requested 2 more Engines to respond summoning Engine 31-2 and Engine 29-2.

Engine 31-2 with a crew of two arrived on location at 1721 hours and began supplying Engine 31-1 with more water.

Brush units began to arrive including an additional brush truck from the Wagontown Fire Company. Wagontown Squad 35 also assisted with traffic control at Route 30 and Compass Road.

Westwood Ambulance 44 provided rehab if needed to the firefighters. The fire was quickly placed under control just 30 minutes after the time of dispatch.

Final units cleared the scene at 1841 hours. Sadsburyville Firefighters then returned to Bingo to raise their operating funds for the remainder of the night after time was spent placing the equipment back in service.
