By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
January 25, 2016

As the week started and the snow began melting down, the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched to multiple incidents, two of which were proven to be snow related.

On January 25th, 2016 at 2255 the company handled an automatic fire alarm in a single family dwelling in the Quarry Ridge section of Sadsbury Township. The alarm activation was determined to be from snow build up in the attic space and melted down and got the smoke detectors wet. Firefighters spent 45 minutes on scene assisting the homeowner with snow removal from the attic. We have received multiple reports from the community and our own members experiencing this same problem in their own homes.

On January 26th, 2016 at 1002 the company was alerted for a residential rescue in the 800 block of Old Wilmington Road in Sadsbury Township. It was reported that an adult had their leg stuck in a crib. Firefighters with hand tools worked to free the leg from the crib. Ambulance 08 was on scene for patient evaluation. Extrication was complete at 1014 and Deputy Chief Reynolds made the company available.

On January 27th, 2016 at 1045 hours the company again was alerted for an auto accident involving a school bus on Old Wimington Road in front of the Quarry Ridge Development. After firefighters investigated the situation it was determined a school bus was not involved and a pickup truck had ran into a snow bank. Old Wilmington Road was down to one lane due to the snow fall and in need of being plowed.
