Working Woods Fire on Boro Line Road, Highland Township
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
November 19, 2016

Dual engine response to Highland Township Saturday as firefighters were called to a rapidly spreading woods fire. The call came in around 1759 when Keystone Valley was dispatched.

When firefighters arrived they found a rapidly spreading woods fire due to the high wind conditions and cold temperatures that just hit the area. Numerous Brush trucks, ATVs, Water Tenders and Engines were called to the scene to control the blaze that was threatening nearby homes.

Initially Sadsburyville units were assigned to Greenfield Lane off of Old Stottsville Road, but fortunately due to a resident with a backhoe the fire was stopped before reaching that point. Engine 31-1 and 31-2 were then redirected to Boro Line Road to help with the fight.

Firefighters from across Chester and Lancaster Counties spent hours containing and overhauling the fire area. It was believed that up to 20 acres of woods was involved in flames. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation and released from the hospital a short time later. Sadsburyville units cleared the scene around 2230.

Units: Engine 31-1, Engine 31-2, Utility 31
