By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
February 25, 2017

At 0651 the Sadsburyville Fire Company was alerted for a house fire in the unit block of Stovepipe Hill Road in Sadsbury Township. Also on the dispatch was the Keystone Valley Fire Department and Modena Fire Company for rapid intervention. Calls to 911 indicated smoke coming from a residence, unsure if anybody was home. Engine 31-1 and Engine 31-2 were both responding within 6 minutes of being dispatched.

Sadsbury Township Emergency Management Coordinator Taylor was first to arrive and reported smoke showing. Deputy Chief Brecht arrived and requested a working fire dispatch, assumed Stovepipe Hill Road Command and gave orders to incoming units.

Engine 31-1 arriving first due at 0659, advanced a line to the front door. Firefighters forced entry and began a primary search while advancing towards the seat of the fire. Crews split for fire suppression and searching for possible occupants inside. The fire was located and knocked down. Hydro-ventilation was immediately performed in the fire room and later positive pressure ventilation was set up to ventilate smoke from the rest of the structure.

Keystone Valley Firefighters conducted a basement check and completed the primary and secondary searches of the entire structure. Keystone Chief Cazillo held the command and Assistant Chief Klingler had operations.

The fire was quickly under control holding the fire to the area of origin. The fire is under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office. Firefighters operated on scene for 90 minutes before being released. Thank you to IrishEyez Photography for the Photographs and Christiana Fire Company for standing by in our station to answer additional alarms if needed.
