House Fire on Washington Avenue, Valley Township
By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
April 29, 2017
On Saturday April 29th, 2017 at 0823 hours, area fire companies were dispatched again to the unit block of Washington Avenue in Valley Township for smoke in a dwelling. This was the previous site of a shed fire earlier this morning that consumed a shed, car and radiant heat damage to a house.
Arriving at 0828 Chief Grossman reported smoke showing from the roof line. Wagontown Assistant Chief Patton arrived and assumed Washington Avenue Command and Chief Grossman took operations.
Engine 31-1 arrived 1st due and stretched the front bumper line to the bravo/charlie corner and located a fire from an interior wall not adjacent to the previous fire. Firefighters from Westwood, Wagontown and Sadsburyville worked collaboratively to expose the fire and knock it down. The fire was quickly under control with all hands working.
The Chester County Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of both fires. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. Westwood, Sadsburyville, Wagontown and East Brandywine Fire Companies answered the call.
