By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
January 17, 2018

Wednesday January 17th, 2018 began as a busy morning as most people were headed to work and the roads were being covered in snow and ice. The company responded to (2) calls for fire police and (1) first due traffic collision.

At 0707 the Fire Police responded to shut down westbound Business Route 30 at Route 10 for an auto accident on Gap Hill. The call was to divert all truck traffic that was unable to go down the hill due to another accident.

At 0737 a separate accident was alerted on the eastbound side of Business Route 30 east of Walnut Drive. Traffic control units from Sadsburyville assisted at this accident until being alerted for another accident at 0757.

At 0757 a (2) vehicle accident went out for Route 10 and Octorara Road. Engine 31-1 with a crew of (3) marked enroute at 0801 along with Deputy and Assistant 31. Units arrived to find (2) patients and were evaluated by Westwood EMS. Squad 31 cleared the second traffic incident and responded to this accident and diverted traffic around the scene.

Sadsburyville Fire Company fielded (8) volunteers between the (3) calls and were in service for just over 1.5 hours.

Later in the day at 1723, the Rapid Intervention Crew was dispatched to the 200 block of East Chestnut Street in the City of Coatesville for a structure fire. The assignment was scaled back within minutes to 1 and 1 and our response was cancelled.

Units: Engine 31-1, Squad 31
