Working House Fire on Merchant Street, Coatesville City |

On Thursday December 10th, 2015 at 1201 hours the City of Coatesville and Veterans Affairs Fire Departments and the Thorndale and Modena Fire Companies were alerted for a structure fire in the 800 block of Merchant Street in the City of Coatesville. Numerous calls to 911 indicated a working fire, as well as two minutes after the time of dispatch Engine 43-1 arrived on location with heavy smoke showing. Due to these reports a working fire dispatch was alerted bringing additional resources from Sadsburyville, Westwood, Minquas and Medic 93. Engine 31-1 made the response at 1212 hours with a crew of 6 firefighters. Numerous lines went in service to extinguish the blaze that was quickly consuming numerous sections of the 2-1/2 story duplex. An additional alarm was struck for more manpower at the scene. The situation was brought under control at 1307 hours with all hands working. Thank you to Salisbury Township Fire Company No. 1 for standing by to cover our area while operating at this fire.
